Dr. Michael Lyon M.D.
Medical and Research Director

Dr. Lyon is an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia's Food, Nutrition and Health Program. He is also a member of the Expert Advisory Committee for Health Canada's Natural Health Products Directorate. He has designed and conducted numerous clinical trials on natural health products.
Dr. Ronald Reichert N.D.
Director of Scientific Affairs

Since earning his doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 1989, Dr. Reichert has been private practice and has also worked as an expert consultant in natural health products and regulatory affairs to the dietary supplement industry. Dr. Reichert was the Naturopathic physician on staff for 3 years at the prestigious Tzu Chi Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Vancouver General Hospital. He currently organizes clinical trials in natural health products as well as overseeing regulatory processes and research and development.
 
Veronica Kacinik MSc, RD
Registered Dietitian

Ms. Kacinik is certified trained as a specialist in Childhood, Adolescent and Adult Weight Management through the American Dietetic Association and holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Nutritional Science from the University of Guelph in Ontario. She completed her dietetic internship in 2004 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and is a member of the Colleges of Dietitians of British Columbia, Dietitians of Canada, and the Canadian Obesity Network.
 
With an energetic passion for disease prevention and health promotion, Veronica Kacinik has counseled hundreds of individuals and groups on the benefits of healthy eating, natural health products, and weight management. As a dietitian, Veronica has a special interest in the scientific, clinical and commercial aspects of nutrition, functional foods and nutraceuticals, and has worked at such places as the University of Guelph’s Human Nutraceutical Research Unit and St. Michael’s Hospital, Risk Factor Modification Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
Prateek Juneja B.Sc.
Graduate Student and Research Associate

Prateek Juneja, B.Sc. Honours

Prateek has recently received his Bachelor of Science, Honours in Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences from the University of Guelph. During his undergraduate, he had worked on several research projects for natural health products including human clinical trials for cardiovascular diseases and cancer research on rats. He is currently a graduate student in Food Science at the University of British Columbia and is working in the area of obesity and diabetes with the Canadian Centre for Functional Medicine in order to complete his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia. Having lived in India, Japan and Canada, he is fluent in several languages.

Suzana Damjanovic
Clinical Trials Coordinator

Ms. Damjanovic specializes in the organization and implentation of clinical research projects, including regulatory affairs and submissions, development of standard operating procedures, preparation of study documents, database design and data collection, personnel training, and coordination of biological sample collection, processing, storage and analysis. As a Registered Laboratory Technologist and certified Clinical Research Associate (McMaster University), Ms. Damjanovic has over 15 years hands-on research coordination and management experience in obesity, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease and heart failure.  Prior to working with the CCFM, she worked at the Population Health Research Institute (Dr. Salim Yusuf, Hamilton) and as Research Manager of the Cardiovascular Obesity Research and Management Centre (Dr. Arya M. Sharma, McMaster University).
